About the Awards

The Wessex Charity Awards is a new initiative to honour the work undertaken by the charity sector in the Wessex region.  We are inviting people to nominate the charity or individual, who they believe deserve recognition for outstanding work over the last 12 months.

Nominations have been invited from charities based in the Wessex Region.  A total of five Awards will be presented during the evening:

Charity of the Year
Chief Executive of the Year
Fundraising Team of the Year
Volunteer of the Year
Trustee Board of the Year

Individuals working within a charity, and also the general public, have been able to make nominations from 1 March to 30 April 2010.  The nomination period has now closed, with the exception of the Trustee Board of the Year category, which we have extended to 7 May.

All nominations will be acknowledged and presented to the Judging Panel for their consideration.

About the Organisers

This not-for-profit event is organised by PAS Charity Recruitment, and is generously supported by regional businesses and backed by a professional committee.

PAS Charity Recruitment was founded by Jenny Warner in response to a need for specialist recruitment services for charities based in Hampshire and surrounding counties.

Their experience of recruiting for a range of roles within the charity sector puts them in a unique position to deliver quality candidates quickly and cost-effectively.

Successful charities are built on the quality and experience of their teams – people who are worth their weight in gold.  PAS Charity Recruitment is delighted to be able to recognise the efforts of these individuals by organising the Wessex Charity Awards.  So much of the recognition being centred on London-based organisations, PAS felt it was time to honour the work done by the people in the region.  For further information, about the organisers, please visit the PAS website www.pasconsultants.co.uk

The Venue

Having reached capacity at the 2009 event, with over 200 representatives from charities and regional businesses, the 2010 event will be held at the Winchester Guildhall, which will comfortably accommodate up to 300 people.

Our Motivation

The Wessex Charity Awards were born from Jenny Warner’s inspiration and desire to recognise the hard work undertaken by the charities for whom she acts at PAS Charity Recruitment.

Jenny says; ‘Within the Wessex region, we felt that not enough was being done to recognise the achievements, dedication and commitment shown by both individuals and teams working for Charities.   My team and I therefore decided to set up the Wessex Charity Awards to address this gap, and provide a celebratory evening for those involved in Charity work, both to give them recognition and to raise their profile.’

The 2009 Awards at the Rose Bowl, Southampton was testament to this and demonstrated the enormous pride felt by people working for charities in the area, with a real ‘feel-good’ atmosphere surrounding the whole event.
